On Saturday, a Peachtree City man was charged with DUI after running over a woman with a golf cart, CBS News reports.

Tracy Self was leaving a concert at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater when she was struck by William Helm's golf cart. After failing a field sobriety test, Helm was arrested and charged with, yes, a golf cart DUI.

On Monday, Suwanee police made 15 alcohol-related arrests at a Memorial Day party, reports.

An annoyed neighbor called the police complaining about loud music coming from the home. When Suwanee police responded, they found 20 people in the backyard, many of whom were underage and drinking.

This week, Clayton County deputies cited 15 people for selling alcohol to minors during an undercover sting operation, reports.

County deputies targeted businesses thought to be furnishing minors with alcohol. Investigators used underage decoys to purchase the alcohol.

Last week, Athens-Clarke County officers arrested the father of accused police shooting suspect Jamie Hood for driving drunk, NBC News reports.

Robert Hood Sr. reportedly got into a verbal altercation with a police officer after crashing his car into a ditch. Hood has been charged with DUI and obstruction for the incident.

An Auburn man blames the police for the DUI accident that killed his son, reports.

In May 2010, Auburn police officer Scott Pendergrass pulled 18-year-old Corey Walker over on suspicion of DUI moments before the fatal accident, but failed to administer a Breathalyzer test. Chris Walker, Corey’s father, contends that had the officer checked his son’s blood alcohol concentration, the boy would be alive today.

Under the Georgia Boat Safety Act, it's illegal for anyone 21 years or older to operate a boat with a blood alcohol concentration of .10 percent or higher. Woman Charged With Second Degree Murder for Cellphone Crash

A distracted driver has taken responsibility for a fatal crash last month that resulted in the death of a 67-year-old man, reports Channel 2 News.

Edward Kilvin was killed on the scene when his car was hit.

The driver, Haleigh Davis Fine, 23, has been charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and failure to maintain lane, according to the Milton Herald. She was apparently on her telephone when she drove into the wrong lane and hit the victim's Nissan Pathfinder.

Charles Bannister Sues Sheriff Conway for Wrongful DUI Stop, Arrest

A former Gwinnett County Commission Chairman has filed a federal lawsuit against the local sheriff, reports The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Charles Bannister filed the lawsuit against Sheriff Butch Conway, accusing the sheriff of wrongful arrest. In his lawsuit, Bannister alleged that Sheriff Conway had his deputies falsely arrest Bannister on DUI charges for personal reasons.

Study: Long MP3 Lists Contribute to Distracted Driving

Long MP3 lists can lead to greater distracted driving cases, researchers say. The findings of the research study were reported in The Journal of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society last month.

Fox Atlanta reported last month that a research study showed that MP3 connectivity devices in new automobiles actually increased driver distraction, despite the fact that these devices were meant to decrease distracted driving.

What to Do if Caught With an Open Container in Atlanta

Open container laws aren't always well understood. They don't relate as much to driving under the influence as they do to being found with an open container of alcohol while in a vehicle.

Alpharetta Parents Charged When Teen Found Drunk at Home

Should parents be held accountable for underage drinking?

Two Alpharetta parents learned a lesson on this issue last week when they were cited by cops after they came home to find their son reportedly passed out drunk.

Two other people that had been with the couple's son were arrested and charged with DUI. One eighteen year girl, Savannah Bartlett, almost hit the ambulance headed to the couple's home, reports Channel 2.

SafeTeen Hosts Driving Safety Event at Atlanta Motor Speedway

Students at Meadowcreek High were given the chance to attend a safe driving event for free this past weekend at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. In light of the recent events surrounding the death of Johlanda Lindsey, the event shed some light on safe driving practices for teens.

The all-day event was open to teens in Georgia and focused on those age fourteen and older. With prom season approaching, issues of reckless teenage driving and underage drinking are timely.

Caller Reports 'Nitwit' Off-Duty Cop Driving in Wrong Direction

Atlanta area 911 dispatchers received a call on Thursday morning, reporting a "nitwit driving up the HOV lane in the wrong direction," according to Channel 2 News.

The reported nitwit turned out to be a local cop. Atlanta Police Officer Christopher Niezurawski was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving and driving on the wrong side of the road. Dispatchers received numerous calls about Niezurawski's driving but emergency crews were unable to make it to the scene before the crash.

Teen Johlanda Lindsey Killed in Weekend Post Prom Crash

Prom season has begun, and so have the driving related casualties.

Early Sunday morning, a crash left three high school students injured and one dead as the group as off to an after-prom party.

Meadowcreek High student Johlanda Lindsey was pronounced dead at the scene. The car she was in was hit by an oncoming vehicle that crossed the center line on Steve Reynolds Boulevard, reports NBC11 News.
